12:45- Company 2 along with Medic 26 responded for a reported injured person on the C&O Canal in the area of the Emerlings Cave between the Dam Number 4 and Taylor’s Landing access points. While responding, the incident was upgraded to a possible confined space rescue due to reports of the injured person being inside the cave.
Units arrived and made access to the patient who had self extricated from the cave but was unable to walk. The confined space assets were placed in service, manpower from Company 2, the Halfway Volunteer Fire Company, and the Washington County Division Of Emergency Services carried the patient to UTV 2 and removed them from the canal. The patient was transported to the hospital for further care.
