Just before 1:30pm today Williamsport along with other Washington County Water Rescue Teams were requested by Morgan County, West Virginia to assist with the rescue of trapped individuals at the Sleepy Creek Campground.
Boat 2 with 3 Swift Water Rescue Technicians responded and operated for two and a half hours. Boat 2 was able to rescue two adults, four dogs, and assist with searching for anyone else who may have been trapped.
The water levels are expected to continue to rise and peak sometime tonight or tomorrow morning. If you live close to the waters edge it is encouraged to move to higher ground, do NOT drive through flooded roadways, and adhere to high water/road closure signs.
