To become a volunteer with the Williamsport Volunteer Fire & EMS Inc. there are some things that you need to do. To get started, you can fill out an application online. Once your application is completed online, you will be contacted by our membership committee to schedule an interview.
Your application will be reviewed by the Membership Committee. The Membership Committee will contact your references and perform a background check. You will then be contacted for an interview with Membership Committee. Your application, along with all your background and interview information will be presented to the general membership at our monthly membership meeting. You are encouraged to attend that monthly meeting. They are the third Monday of every month, excluding holidays.
Once accepted, you will begin a process to gain riding status on all the apparatus, be fitted for protective gear, and register for training classes. All the classes are free of charge to you and are required to become a firefighter or an emergency medical technician.
